Systems engineering
What is Systems Engineering?
Systems engineering is an interdisciplinary field of engineering and engineering project management that focuses on the design, integration, and management of complex systems throughout their lifecycle.
The first use of the term systems engineering was at Bell Telephone Laboratories in the 1940s. The need to identify and manipulate the properties of the system as a whole, which in complex engineering designs can differ significantly from the sum of its parts, has motivated various industries, especially those developing systems for the US military, to apply this discipline.
